- Its standout feature is 3D design renderings, and its homepage frames the work as residential.

Most Austin fence quotes look alike on paper, so the real separators sit in warranty follow-up and what happens when a gate drifts. Austin Brothers Fence Company, a family-run builder operating since 2012, earns high marks for its build quality and communication, and a few older reviews flag follow-up gaps.
This review covers the company’s review record, its service area, which of its claims can be verified and the one warranty question buyers raise most often. It then sets three alternatives beside it, so readers can weigh Austin Brothers against firms with different strengths in BBB history, security work and bundled services.
No commission or affiliate arrangement sits behind any company named in this write-up.
Where Austin Brothers Earns Its Reputation
Austin Brothers builds horizontal and vertical wood fences, bull panel and iron fences, and installs and repairs gates, including driveway gates. Its site highlights 3D design renderings that let a homeowner preview the fence before work starts.
Review volume backs the reputation. Google shows 4.9 stars from 209 reviews, Yelp shows 4.6 stars from 111 reviews, and its Houzz page lists a Best of Houzz 2022 Service award.
Yelp’s own highlights for the page show a pattern, too. A walkthrough of the finished fence is mentioned in 31 reviews, and estimate revisions as a job grows are mentioned in 23.
Key advantages:
- 3D renderings reduce surprises in layout and style choices
- Large, recent review base on both Google and Yelp
- Wood, iron, vinyl and bull panel options for residential yards
- A repair warranty program referenced on its website
Where Austin Brothers Works
Its homepage lists Austin, Bee Cave, Buda, Cedar Park, Jollyville, Lakeway, Leander, Manchaca, Round Rock and Spicewood. Houzz adds Pflugerville, West Lake Hills, Rollingwood and Sunset Valley, so central and west-side lots are the core of its territory.

A Warranty Question Worth Asking
The lowest Yelp reviews at Austin Brothers center on gates and follow-up. A March 2021 review describes gates that shifted within four months of installation:
“Austin Brothers provides terrible “warranty” service. My neighbors and I used them for our new fence. Less than four months after installation our gates shifted and now his has a big gap and mine will not close.”
- JP M., 1 star on Yelp (March 2021)
The business owner replied publicly in November 2021, saying the company reached out soon after the review, addressed the issues and updated its warranty process to shorten the gap between a request and a fix. That reply is worth weighing alongside the complaint.
Soil explains why the question matters in Central Texas. The Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation describes expansive soils as soils that shrink and swell with moisture changes, which is also why gate posts can shift after heavy rain or drought.
Watch-Outs
- No BBB profile located: Searches for a BBB listing turned up none, so there is no accreditation or complaint history to check.
- Residential framing: The homepage presents residential work, so commercial buyers should ask for references before choosing it.
- Older negative reviews: The lowest Yelp entries date from 2016 through 2022, with owner replies on several of them.
- Contact details changed over time: Its address has moved, so confirm the current office before visiting.
Reading the Review Pattern
Older negative reviews tend to cluster around response time, and the newer ones are almost all positive. A buyer should weigh that trend, along with the owner’s public replies, over any single score.

FAQs
Is Austin Brothers Fence Company the best fencing company in Austin?
It is one of the best-reviewed residential builders, with 4.9 stars on Google. “Best” depends on your needs, and buyers who want BBB accreditation or commercial capability should compare Purple Fencing Company and Allied.
What should I check before hiring a fence company in Austin?
Verify a physical address, a written contract and a BBB profile, then compare two or three quotes. Review dates matter as much as star averages.
How do I avoid fence gate problems after installation?
Ask how gate posts are set and what the warranty covers if a gate sags. Austin’s clay soil moves with moisture, so a written gate adjustment policy helps.
What makes Purple Fencing Company different from Austin Brothers?
Purple holds BBB accreditation with an A+ rating and a 2024 HIGHWIRE Gold Level Safety Award, and it states a two-year workmanship warranty subject to its written terms. It also serves commercial properties, which Austin Brothers does not highlight.
Can Purple Fencing Company handle a driveway gate?
Its commercial page lists heavy-duty gate installation, and an August 2025 Yelp reviewer praised a custom driveway gate. Confirm the gate warranty in writing, as with any installer.
The Bottom Line
Austin Brothers Fence Company deserves its reputation for residential builds and design previews, and its owner has responded publicly to older complaints. It is not the best fit for every buyer, particularly those who want a BBB record or commercial capability.
Among the alternatives, Purple Fencing Company stands out as Best for Residential and Commercial Fencing, with a BBB profile, a HIGHWIRE safety award and a solid review record behind it. Buyers who want security fencing and access control may prefer Allied Fence & Security, while homeowners planning fence and roof work together can look at Patriot Fence & Roofing.
Shortlist two installers, ask each how it handles gate adjustments, and pick the one whose answer is written down.
